---

A WordPress MCP server lets an AI assistant read and edit your site through a set of tools, instead of pasting HTML and hoping. In 2026 there are a dozen worth knowing, and they are not interchangeable: some run on your own site and some through a vendor’s servers, some write your page builder and some only blog posts, and only a few can undo what the AI changed.

I make Respira for WordPress, one of the servers below. Every fact about the others comes from their own listing, repository, changelog or product page, linked where it appears, read again on 15 October 2026\.

## The short answer

- **Live sites built in a page builder:** [Respira for WordPress](#respira). It supports 19 page builders in their own formats, puts edits to published pages on a draft copy you approve, and takes a snapshot before every write.
- **A developer exposing their own abilities:** the official [WordPress MCP Adapter](#official).
- **A site hosted on WordPress.com:** [WordPress.com’s own connector](#wordpress-com).
- **An Elementor site that only needs Atomic elements:** [Elementor’s own MCP](#builders), free to connect.
- **Many small sites, light use, no budget:** [WPVibe’s free plan](#wpvibe), as long as 100 tool calls a day is enough.
- **A big free tool set on a block-editor site:** [Easy MCP AI](#easy-mcp-ai) or [Royal MCP](#royal-mcp).
- **Connecting Claude or ChatGPT:** see [WordPress MCP for Claude](#for-claude) and [WordPress MCP for ChatGPT](#for-chatgpt) below.

As published by each project on 15 October 2026\. “Agents it names” lists the clients each project names on its own page; most MCP servers also work with clients they do not name. Sources are linked in each section below.

## What a WordPress MCP server is, and when you need one

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard AI assistants use to call outside tools. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, Gemini and most coding agents speak it. A WordPress MCP server turns your site into a set of those tools: list pages, read a page’s structure, change a heading, upload an image, take a snapshot, undo a change. The AI stops guessing at markup and makes structured edits it has permission to make.

You need one when you want an assistant to do the work in WordPress rather than describe it: update twenty product pages, rebuild a landing page from a design, fix the alt text across a media library, or check every page for broken headings. For a longer primer, see [what MCP is](https://www.respira.press/mcp) and [whether ChatGPT or Claude can edit a live WordPress site](https://www.respira.press/blog/can-chatgpt-claude-edit-wordpress).

## Six things that decide it

1. **Page builders.** Many WordPress sites are built in Elementor, Divi, Bricks, Beaver Builder or another builder, each storing layouts in its own format. A server that only edits post content cannot change those pages without breaking them. Ask which builders it writes natively, element by element.
2. **Edits to published pages.** Does the AI change the live page, or a copy that a person approves first? New posts as drafts is common; published pages behind an approval is rare.
3. **Undo.** A snapshot before every write and a way to restore it. Trash for deleted posts is not undo for an edited homepage.
4. **Where it runs.** On your site, or through the vendor’s servers. A relay holds a credential to every site you connect and sees the content going through.
5. **Limits and price.** Per site, per tool call, per day, or free. A daily allowance shared across sites decides how much one busy day costs the others.
6. **Maintenance.** Several WordPress MCP projects from 2025 are archived or have not been updated in over a year. Check the last release before you connect a client site.

## WordPress MCP for Claude

Claude comes in four shapes that matter here: Claude Desktop, Claude on the web, Claude Cowork and Claude Code in the terminal. Every server in this list works with at least one of them. What differs is how you connect and what Claude can safely change once it is in.

- **Respira for WordPress:** a one-click bundle for Claude Desktop, a plugin for Claude Cowork, and one command for Claude Code (`claude mcp add respira-wordpress -- npx -y @respira/wordpress-mcp-server@latest`). One setup code covers every site on the account, and Claude’s writes to published pages land on a draft copy. Steps: [connect Claude to WordPress](https://www.respira.press/integrations/claude).
- **WordPress.com:** [an official connector in Claude’s directory](https://claude.com/connectors/wordpress-com), built by Automattic, with “60+ abilities”, every change asking for confirmation, on paid WordPress.com plans and sites connected through Jetpack AI or Complete.
- **Elementor:** [Elementor’s MCP](https://elementor.com/mcp/) names Claude Code and Claude Desktop, and builds Atomic elements as drafts.
- **WPVibe:** [its listing](https://wordpress.org/plugins/vibe-ai/) names Claude Desktop, Claude on the web and Claude Code, and says it is in Claude’s connectors directory.
- **Easy MCP AI, Royal MCP and AI Engine:** each signs Claude in through the browser (OAuth), so there is no key to paste. Easy MCP AI names Claude on the web, Desktop, Cowork and Claude Code; Royal MCP names Claude Desktop and Claude Code; AI Engine names Claude and Claude Code.
- **The MCP Adapter:** its README points to Claude Desktop configuration examples.

For Claude Code on client sites, the question is the same as anywhere else: does the server write your page builder, and can it undo an edit to a live page. Claude Code is fast and will make many writes in a row, which is where a draft copy and a snapshot per write earn their keep. More on the builder side at the [Elementor MCP](https://www.respira.press/elementor-mcp), [Divi MCP](https://www.respira.press/divi-mcp) and [Bricks MCP](https://www.respira.press/bricks-mcp) pages.

## WordPress MCP for ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects to an MCP server as a custom app on chatgpt.com, with Developer mode turned on under Settings, Apps, Advanced settings. The ChatGPT phone apps cannot add one, and which plans can use custom apps is OpenAI’s call and changes; Respira’s setup page keeps [the current requirements and the steps](https://www.respira.press/integrations/chatgpt).

- **Respira for WordPress:** copy one site’s link from the Respira dashboard, add it as a custom app, and sign in to Respira in the browser. ChatGPT keeps one app per site. ChatGPT can also work on a page it has open in its own browser through [WebMCP](https://www.respira.press/blog/webmcp-and-preview-links), with staged edits and a preview link.
- **WordPress.com:** [its support page](https://wordpress.com/support/mcp/) connects ChatGPT through a WordPress.com plugin in ChatGPT’s own settings, with no Developer mode needed, and Cursor and other clients by URL.
- **WPVibe:** names ChatGPT in its plugin title, says it is an official connector in ChatGPT’s apps directory, and connects through its hosted relay.
- **Royal MCP:** names ChatGPT on the web with OAuth; other clients use an API key header.
- **AI Engine, Easy MCP AI, EMCP Tools and InstaMCP:** all name ChatGPT.
- **Elementor’s MCP:** its page names Claude, Codex and Cursor and says it connects to any MCP-compatible tool; it does not name ChatGPT.

ChatGPT tends to be used by people who do not live in a terminal, which makes the safety layer matter more, not less. A server that edits the live page directly asks the person to catch every mistake in the chat. Codex and Cursor connect the way Claude Code does; the steps are on [connect Codex](https://www.respira.press/integrations/codex) and [connect Cursor](https://www.respira.press/integrations/cursor).

## The servers, one by one

### 1\. Respira for WordPress

[Respira](https://www.respira.press/) is built for editing real pages on live sites. It supports 19 page builders, reading and writing each in its own format, from Elementor, Divi 4 and 5, Bricks and Beaver Builder to Oxygen, Breakdance, WPBakery, Flatsome and Kadence, so a page still opens correctly in its builder afterwards. SeedProd is read-only for now. An edit to a published page lands on a draft copy that you approve in wp-admin before it goes live, and every page and post write takes a snapshot first, restorable for 90 days. By 4 October 2026, Respira had made 12,508 draft copies of live pages and posts and received 2,842 requests to restore a snapshot.

It runs as a plugin on your site, and your AI connects to it directly: content never passes through Respira’s servers. It works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex and other MCP clients, by URL with a browser sign-in or with a config snippet. Beyond page editing it covers [WooCommerce](https://www.respira.press/addons/woocommerce)(104 store tools), SEO and accessibility audits, and [Respira Exhale](https://www.respira.press/exhale), the HTML to WordPress converter that turns a finished HTML file into a native page in any supported builder in one call. For work across many sites from one chat, [Respira AER](https://www.respira.press/aer), the chat in your Respira dashboard that edits your WordPress sites, runs on the same plugin.

What it costs: from €9 a month or €71 a year for one site, with a 7-day free trial and no card. There is no free plan, the code is not public, and pricing is per site rather than per call, with no daily cap. [Pricing](https://www.respira.press/pricing) · [How the MCP server works](https://www.respira.press/mcp).

Per-builder detail: [Elementor](https://www.respira.press/elementor-mcp), [Divi](https://www.respira.press/divi-mcp), [Bricks](https://www.respira.press/bricks-mcp), [Beaver Builder](https://www.respira.press/beaver-mcp), [Oxygen](https://www.respira.press/oxygen-mcp), [Breakdance](https://www.respira.press/breakdance-mcp), [WPBakery](https://www.respira.press/wpbakery-mcp), [Gutenberg](https://www.respira.press/gutenberg-mcp), [Flatsome](https://www.respira.press/flatsome-mcp), [Kadence](https://www.respira.press/kadence-mcp).

**A fit for:** agencies and freelancers editing live client sites in page builders, who need every change reviewable and reversible.

### 2\. The WordPress MCP Adapter (official)

The [MCP Adapter](https://github.com/WordPress/mcp-adapter) is the WordPress project’s own answer, part of its AI Building Blocks. It takes every ability registered with the [Abilities API](https://developer.wordpress.org/apis/abilities-api/), which is in core since WordPress 6.9, and exposes it as an MCP tool, over HTTP or STDIO. [Version 0.7.0](https://github.com/WordPress/mcp-adapter/releases)shipped on 2 October 2026 with support for the MCP 2026-07-28 specification. It is free and open source, and it is the one official, vendor-neutral route on a self-hosted site.

It is a bridge, not an editor: what your AI can do depends on which plugins register abilities. Bricks 2.4 does. It has no undo or approval layer of its own. Automattic’s earlier [wordpress-mcp](https://github.com/Automattic/wordpress-mcp)is archived. Respira’s free [Inhale](https://www.respira.press/inhale-mcp-abilities) plugin adds a settings page to choose which abilities the Adapter shows your AI, and Respira itself can call any registered ability with a snapshot taken first.

**A fit for:** developers who want to expose their own plugin’s abilities.

### 3\. The WordPress.com connector (official)

[WordPress.com runs its own MCP server](https://wordpress.com/support/mcp/). It started read-only and gained [write access in March 2026](https://thenextweb.com/news/wordpress-com-mcp-write-capabilities-ai-agent). Today it is on every paid WordPress.com plan, and on self-hosted sites connected through Jetpack with a Jetpack AI or Jetpack Complete plan. Write tools are on by default and “request confirmation before executing”; deleted posts and pages can be recovered from the trash for 30 days, while deleted media, categories and tags are permanent. In Claude it is [a connector in the directory](https://claude.com/connectors/wordpress-com), built by Automattic, with OAuth sign-in.

Its tools cover content, media, comments, site settings, users, plugins and the Site Editor, and it lists no page builder tools. The full comparison is in [Respira vs WordPress.com MCP](https://www.respira.press/blog/respira-vs-wordpress-com-mcp).

**A fit for:** sites hosted on WordPress.com, and Jetpack sites already on those plans.

### 4\. WPVibe

[WPVibe](https://wordpress.org/plugins/vibe-ai/), from the SeedProd team, is a plugin plus a hosted relay: your AI connects to WPVibe’s servers, which “encrypt credentials with AES-256-GCM, and relay your AI’s tool calls to the WordPress REST API.” It has 70,000+ active installs on wordpress.org. It writes Elementor, Bricks, Breakdance, Beaver Builder and Divi through each builder’s own save pipeline, and has built-in skills for Gutenberg, Kadence, GeneratePress and SeedProd. Its listing says it is in Claude’s connectors directory and ChatGPT’s apps directory.

Its pricing is a [daily allowance of tool calls](https://mcp.wpvibe.ai/pricing) shared across unlimited sites: 100 a day free, then $99, $299, $599 or $899 a year for 500 to 10,000 a day. Destructive actions (deleting a user, changing the database, uninstalling a plugin) pause for an approval panel with a dry-run preview, deletes go to the trash, new posts start as drafts, and theme work can stay in a draft with a private preview and a backup to roll back to. Its FAQ says edits to posts, pages and media go live immediately, as they do in wp-admin, and it describes no restore for them.

I compared the two in detail, covering pricing on busy days, privacy, undo and builders, in [Respira vs WPVibe](https://www.respira.press/blog/respira-vs-wpvibe). I also gave both the same HTML page to build on six page builders and measured time, tool calls, cost and how close each result came to the file: [the build test](https://www.respira.press/blog/respira-vs-wpvibe-build-test).

**A fit for:** many small sites with light, steady use, where a free plan matters more than undo.

### 5\. AI Engine

[AI Engine](https://wordpress.org/plugins/ai-engine/) by Meow Apps has 90,000+ active installs and a 4.9 rating from 871 reviews. It is a chatbot and AI framework first, and its MCP server adds “more than fifty tools” for posts, media and more, with a browser sign-in for desktop clients and no relay in between. “The MCP server is free, with no monthly fee and no usage cap.” Tools for plugins, themes, the database, Polylang, WPML and WooCommerce are in Pro.

It lists no tools for page builder layouts and no undo or snapshot for AI edits. Database tools are powerful on a development site and a risk on a live one.

**A fit for:** sites already running AI Engine for chat, adding MCP on top.

### 6\. Royal MCP

[Royal MCP](https://wordpress.org/plugins/royal-mcp/) is a free plugin, 10,000+ installs, with more than 240 tools: 109 for WordPress itself, 136 that load when a supported plugin is active (WooCommerce, Yoast, ACF, forms, caching and more), and 4 helpers. It has 14 Elementor tools and 9 for Divi 4 and 5, and treats other builders as post content. New posts and pages start as drafts, it logs every tool call, and destructive writes return an undo token valid for 72 hours. Claude Desktop, Claude Code and ChatGPT on the web sign in with OAuth. [Royal MCP Pro](https://royalplugins.com/royal-mcp-pro/) is a paid upgrade with deeper Divi, Elementor and WooCommerce tools and undo tokens of up to 168 hours.

**A fit for:** teams that want an audit log and a broad free tool set.

### 7\. Easy MCP AI

[Easy MCP AI](https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-mcp-ai/), from Themeisle, is entirely free, with 280+ tools across WordPress, plugin integrations and SEO, and 20,000+ installs. It runs as PHP on your own site with “no hosted relay, account or usage fee”, signs clients in with OAuth 2.1, and names Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex CLI and a dozen more. Its change history keeps before and after snapshots of what the AI changes, for comparing in the admin, with a 30-day audit log and a setting that forces new content to drafts. Its editing is built around Gutenberg blocks, and it lists no page builder tools.

**A fit for:** block-editor sites that want a wide free tool set and open source code.

### 8\. EMCP Tools (MCP Tools for WordPress and Page Builders)

[EMCP Tools](https://github.com/msrbuilds/elementor-mcp) started as an Elementor MCP server and grew into a general one, built on the official MCP Adapter, which it bundles. It lists dedicated integrations for Elementor, Bricks, Breakdance, Avada, Divi 5, Thrive Architect, Oxygen, Kirki, WPBakery, Beaver Builder, BeBuilder and Visual Composer, with page snapshots and a change ledger with rollback. Tools that write ship switched off until you turn them on. The free plugin lists 225 tools and Pro adds 327, 552 in all.

**A fit for:** Elementor-first builds by people comfortable installing from GitHub.

### 9\. InstaMCP by InstaWP

[InstaMCP](https://docs.instawp.com/sites/connect-ai-assistants-to-your-wordpress-site-using-mcp) is InstaWP’s MCP plugin, switched on from a site in the InstaWP dashboard on Sandbox plans and up. It has 43 tools plus built-in skills, among them working on an Elementor or Bricks page, and setup guides for 14 AI clients, among them Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex. Its `execute_php`, `db_query` and `site_files` tools are off by default, Safe Mode blocks deletes, and InstaWP says to [“enable it on staging or development sites first.”](https://instawp.com/instamcp-1-1-0-release/) Its sibling [mcp-wp](https://github.com/InstaWP/mcp-wp), a public repository on GitHub, runs on your own computer against any site.

**A fit for:** staging and development work, especially on InstaWP.

### 10\. Open-source servers that run on your computer

Several free servers run on your own computer and talk to a site over the WordPress REST API with an application password. One that is actively maintained is [docdyhr/mcp-wordpress](https://github.com/docdyhr/mcp-wordpress), with a release in October 2026: 71 tools for content, users, SEO, caching and performance, on up to 50 sites, set up for Claude Desktop and VS Code. The ones I read list no page builder tools and no undo.

**A fit for:** developers who want a small, readable codebase for posts and media.

### Archived or stale: skip these

- [Automattic/wordpress-mcp](https://github.com/Automattic/wordpress-mcp): archived, replaced by the official MCP Adapter.
- [mcp-wp/ai-command](https://github.com/mcp-wp/ai-command): archived, with its last update in December 2025.
- [emzimmer/server-wp-mcp](https://github.com/emzimmer/server-wp-mcp): no updates since January 2025.
- [aguaitech/Elementor-MCP](https://github.com/aguaitech/Elementor-MCP) and [prathammanocha/wordpress-mcp-server](https://github.com/prathammanocha/wordpress-mcp-server): no updates since May 2025.

Older roundups still recommend some of these. An archived server gets no security fixes, so leave it off client sites.

## Which page builders have their own MCP server in 2026?

![A machined aluminium patch bay with a cable in every jack, one of them emerald, beside three small single-jack pucks with one cable each.](https://www.respira.press/blog/best-wordpress-mcp-servers/one-server-many-builders.webp)

One connection that reaches every builder, or one per builder.

- **Elementor:** [Elementor’s MCP](https://elementor.com/mcp/) was announced as an [open beta on 15 September 2026](https://elementor.com/blog/elementor-mcp-beta/) and shipped in [Elementor 4.3.0 on 22 September](https://wordpress.org/plugins/elementor/#developers), with fixes through 4.3.5\. It connects Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex and Cursor, builds Atomic elements, and “every generation lands as a draft, and nothing goes live until you review and publish it.” It “will soon also support Widget (V3) layouts”. Connecting is free; Pro elements need a Pro plan, and custom widgets, wp-admin changes and bulk content actions need Angie.
- **Bricks:** [Bricks 2.4 registers experimental AI abilities](https://academy.bricksbuilder.io/builder/features/ai-abilities-and-skills/) for its design system, templates, elements, dynamic data, media, WooCommerce templates and revisions, exposed through the official MCP Adapter and set up under Bricks, AI. Bricks advises testing on a local or staging site first.
- **Breakdance:** [Breakdance 3.0](https://breakdance.com/meet-breakdance-3-0/) (first release candidate on 1 October 2026) installs an Agent Connector from Breakdance, Settings, Agents and MCP, for Claude, Codex, Cursor or any MCP agent.
- **Divi:** [an AI agent inside the Divi 5 Visual Builder](https://help.elegantthemes.com/en/articles/16798164-the-divi-ai-agent-in-divi-5), for Divi AI subscribers. Elegant Themes says MCP support is coming in a future update.

Each of these covers one builder, which works for a single site. An agency with clients on Elementor, Divi and Bricks needs one connection that writes all three, and that is the gap Respira fills: 19 builders through one server, with the same draft copy, approval and undo on each. Where a builder is better on its own ground, say so plainly: Elementor’s MCP is free to connect and comes from the people who make Elementor. On Bricks and Elementor, Respira can also call the builder’s own abilities, with a snapshot taken first. The [Elementor MCP page](https://www.respira.press/elementor-mcp) puts the two side by side.

## WordPress MCP servers for SEO work

SEO work through an AI is mostly reading many pages and changing small things on each: titles, meta descriptions, headings, alt text, internal links, structured data. What matters is whether the server can read what your SEO plugin reads, and whether it can change those fields without touching the layout.

- **Respira:** SEO, answer-engine (AEO) and readability analysis, Rank Math scores, PageSpeed and Core Web Vitals, structured data checks and accessibility scans, then edits in the page’s own builder, each one undoable. See the [tool catalogue](https://www.respira.press/tools).
- **Easy MCP AI:** 50+ SEO and analytics tools, free.
- **Royal MCP:** Yoast and MonsterInsights tools that load when those plugins are active.
- **AI Engine:** SEO through Meow Apps’ separate SEO Engine plugin.

## Free WordPress MCP servers

Free and good exist: the official [MCP Adapter](#official), [Easy MCP AI](#easy-mcp-ai), [Royal MCP](#royal-mcp) and [AI Engine](#ai-engine) are free, Elementor’s MCP is free to connect, and [WPVibe](#wpvibe) has a free plan with 100 tool calls a day. Respira’s free [Inhale](https://www.respira.press/inhale-mcp-abilities) plugin is a settings page for the Adapter. What the free options do not give you is page builder editing across builders with a draft copy and undo on live pages, which is the part Respira charges for, after a 7-day free trial.

## For WooCommerce stores

Store work needs more than post tools: products and variations, stock, coupons, orders and refunds. Respira’s [WooCommerce MCP](https://www.respira.press/addons/woocommerce) adds 104 store tools with a snapshot before every write and a dry run on anything destructive. Easy MCP AI has 47 free WooCommerce tools, and AI Engine (in Pro) and Royal MCP have WooCommerce tools too. The detail is in [Respira’s WooCommerce MCP compared with the others](https://www.respira.press/commerce-vs-other-mcps).

## Updates and maintenance across client sites

An MCP server edits content. Keeping plugins, themes and WordPress up to date across many client sites is a different job, and the tools for it are mostly dashboards. I compared ten of them, from ManageWP and MainWP to SiteGround’s agent and Respira AER, in [WordPress maintenance agents compared](https://www.respira.press/blog/best-wordpress-maintenance-agents).

## How to choose

- **You edit client sites in Elementor, Divi, Bricks or another builder:** pick a server that writes your builders natively, puts edits to published pages on a copy, and can undo them. That is [Respira](#respira).
- **Your site is on WordPress.com:** start with [its own connector](#wordpress-com).
- **You are a developer exposing your own logic:** the [MCP Adapter](#official).
- **You run one Elementor site on Atomic elements:** try [Elementor’s MCP](#builders) first; it is free to connect.
- **You run many small sites with light use:** [WPVibe’s](#wpvibe) free plan, and read [how its daily allowance works on busy days](https://www.respira.press/blog/respira-vs-wpvibe).
- **You want free, open source and block-editor only:** [Easy MCP AI](#easy-mcp-ai) or [Royal MCP](#royal-mcp).

These are not exclusive. The MCP Adapter and a full editing server run side by side on the same site. For why undo matters as much as speed on a live site, read [the recovery half of agentic WordPress](https://www.respira.press/blog/the-recovery-half-of-agentic-wordpress), or try [Respira free for 7 days](https://www.respira.press/pricing) on your own site.

## Questions people ask

### What is a WordPress MCP server?

A WordPress MCP server lets an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Codex read and change a WordPress site through a set of tools, instead of guessing at HTML. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard those assistants use to call outside tools. The server decides what the AI can do: read a page, edit a heading, upload an image, take a snapshot, undo a change.

### Does WordPress have an official MCP server?

Yes, two. For self-hosted WordPress, the official route is the MCP Adapter plugin from the WordPress project, which turns abilities registered with the Abilities API (in core since WordPress 6.9) into MCP tools. Automattic’s older wordpress-mcp repository is archived. For sites on WordPress.com, and self-hosted sites on Jetpack AI or Complete, WordPress.com runs its own MCP server, listed as a connector in Claude’s directory. Elementor also ships an official MCP for Elementor sites, since Elementor 4.3.0.

### Which WordPress MCP server should I use in 2026?

It depends on the site. For live sites built in page builders, Respira for WordPress supports 19 page builders in their own formats, puts edits to published pages on a draft copy you approve, and takes a snapshot before every write. For a developer exposing their own abilities, the official MCP Adapter. For a site on WordPress.com, its own connector. For an Elementor site that only needs Atomic elements, Elementor’s own MCP. For many small sites with light use and no budget, WPVibe’s free plan or Easy MCP AI.

### Which WordPress MCP server works with Claude?

All twelve in this list work with some form of Claude. Respira for WordPress installs in Claude Desktop as a bundle, in Claude Cowork as a plugin, and in Claude Code with one command. WordPress.com is a connector in Claude’s own directory. Elementor’s MCP names Claude Code and Claude Desktop. WPVibe says it is in Claude’s connectors directory. Easy MCP AI, Royal MCP and AI Engine connect Claude with a browser sign-in.

### Can ChatGPT connect to a WordPress MCP server?

Yes. WordPress.com installs from ChatGPT’s own settings, and WPVibe says it is in ChatGPT’s apps directory. Any other server is added on chatgpt.com as a custom app with Developer mode turned on; the ChatGPT phone apps cannot add one. Respira for WordPress, WordPress.com, WPVibe, AI Engine, Royal MCP, Easy MCP AI, EMCP Tools and InstaMCP all name ChatGPT. Elementor’s MCP names Claude, Codex and Cursor and says it connects to any MCP-compatible tool; it does not name ChatGPT.

### Is there a free WordPress MCP server?

Yes. The official MCP Adapter, Easy MCP AI, Royal MCP and AI Engine are free, EMCP Tools has a free version, and WPVibe has a free plan with 100 tool calls a day. Respira’s Inhale plugin is free too: a settings page for choosing which abilities the default MCP server exposes. Respira for WordPress itself is paid, from €9 a month for one site, with a 7-day free trial and no card.

### Which page builders have their own MCP server?

Elementor has an official MCP since Elementor 4.3.0 (22 September 2026), for its Atomic elements. Bricks 2.4 registers experimental AI abilities that the official MCP Adapter exposes. Breakdance 3.0 installs an Agent Connector from its settings. Divi 5 has an AI agent inside its Visual Builder and no MCP yet. Each covers only its own builder. Respira covers 19 builders through one connection.

### Is it safe to let AI edit a live WordPress site?

It is when three things are true: the AI edits a copy instead of the live page, a person approves the change, and every change can be undone. Check each server for all three. Many offer one, approvals or drafts for new posts, and few cover edits to pages that are already published.

### Hosted relay or a plugin on my site: which is better?

A hosted relay such as WPVibe is quick to connect and keeps one connection for many sites, but your AI’s requests and the content they return pass through the vendor’s servers, which hold an encrypted credential for each site. A plugin on your site (Respira, the MCP Adapter, AI Engine, Royal MCP, Easy MCP AI) keeps the connection between your site and your AI. For client sites with privacy terms, the second is easier to sign off.

### WPVibe or Respira?

WPVibe sells a daily allowance of tool calls across unlimited sites, through its own relay, with a free plan. Respira sells site slots with no daily cap, connects directly, writes more page builders in their own formats, and keeps a snapshot to undo page edits. The full side by side is at respira.press/blog/respira-vs-wpvibe, and a measured build test on six builders is at respira.press/blog/respira-vs-wpvibe-build-test.

## How I put this together

I read each server’s own listing, repository, changelog or product page on 15 October 2026, and linked the source next to each claim. Install counts, tool counts and prices are what each project publishes. Where a project does not say whether it can undo an edit, the table says “none listed” rather than guessing, and “agents it names” lists only the clients a project names itself. If something here is out of date, write to [word@respira.press](mailto:word@respira.press) and I will correct it.
