# Respira and WPML

With WPML active, Respira knows each page's language, lists the translations of a page, and creates or updates a translation as a real WPML language copy, page builder content included.

## What works

- Site context lists the site's languages, and page and post lists take a language so an agent works in one language at a time.
- respira\_get\_translations returns every language copy of a page: id, URL, language and title.
- respira\_create\_translation adds a language copy to the page's own WPML group, so WPML treats it as a translation. Page builder content is carried across.
- respira\_update\_translation changes an existing translation, and respira\_duplicate\_with\_translations makes a safe-edit copy of a page together with its translations.
- Menus are read per language.

## What it does not do

- Respira does not translate text by itself: your AI writes the translation and Respira stores it.
- WPML's string translation and translation management screens are not written.
- The translation tools are WPML only. On a Polylang site, Respira reads each page's language for its safety checks, but does not create translations.

## The tools involved

`respira_get_translations` 

Every language copy of a page or post.

`respira_create_translation` 

A new language copy in the page's WPML group.

`respira_update_translation` 

Changes an existing translation.

`respira_duplicate_with_translations` 

A safe-edit copy of a page and its translations.

`respira_list_pages` 

Takes a language to list pages in one locale.

Every write saves a snapshot first, and on a published page the change lands on a draft copy you approve.
