Sir Patrick Stewart died on 28 October, at 86. October's releases are dedicated to him, and to my daughter Ioana, who has loved Jean-Luc Picard since she was a child.

For years, the two of us watched The Next Generation together in the evenings and talked through each episode afterwards. The day after he died, she wrote about him: A chair left full. It says more than I can.

October was a full month: 55 plugin releases, 24 of the MCP server, 236 pull requests and 20 blog posts. I build Respira alone, from Brașov, and I want the month's work to carry his name. The collected October releases are called Make it so. The plugin release that carries his name is 9.3.0, Captain Picard.

This is a dedication, not a campaign. A good captain listens, then says make it so. Respira tries to work the same way: nothing changes on your site until a person says yes.

His family's statement remembered “the dignity, compassion and humanity he brought to every role.” That is a fine thing to aim for, in any kind of work.

What shipped in October.

01Split tests in Murmur, client feedback on the live page: half your visitors see a new version of a page, and a person decides which one stays.
02Murmur notes can carry photos, the exact spot and the device, and a client keeps one link for change requests.
03Respira AER, the chat that works on all your WordPress sites from your dashboard or phone, now shows what went wrong in plain cards, your model balance, and the Claude Max and Team API credit.
04Join by company email: colleagues who sign in with your company's domain join your team.
05Ask Respira answers your questions about Respira with verified answers.
06Two new builders, YOOtheme Pro and Avada. Nineteen in all.
07A free WordPress vulnerability scanner, and security alerts you can switch on in Settings.
08Respira can update itself, plus tools for UpdraftPlus backups, image crops and resizes, TranslatePress, Blocksy and SmartCrawl, and Divi layouts you try before they go live. Release notes.
09Every Yoast SEO field, written the way Yoast writes it, and redirects with guardrails.
10Exhale, HTML to a native WordPress page: convert one page with no account, and five more with a free account.
11A case study: UrbanKID, the parenting site my wife Dana and I started 17 years ago, rebuilt with Respira in under 24 hours. Still WordPress, still Divi, more than 6,000 articles kept.

The crew badge.

Every Respira account can claim a small crew badge for its dashboard, here: respira.press/make-it-so.

04

His causes.

If you want to do something in his name, this is where he put his own: Refuge, for women who live with domestic abuse; Combat Stress, for veterans' mental health; the International Rescue Committee, for refugees; Amnesty International, for human rights; the University of Huddersfield, where he was Chancellor; and Wags and Walks, the Los Angeles rescue he fostered pit bulls through.

One percent of net Respira subscription sales from 28 October to 31 December 2026 goes to the two funds his family named in place of flowers: the Johns Hopkins Alzheimer's Disease Research Center Fund and the Alzheimer's Foundation of America's caregiver resources, split equally. I will publish the amount and the receipts in the January letter.

Thank you for being aboard.
Make it so, after a yes.
