| RESPIRA FOR WORDPRESS |
The car i told you about.
THE SHORT VERSION
The car i worked nine months for was destroyed on Friday by a drunk driver, while it was parked and we were asleep.
Nobody was hurt, which is the only part that actually matters.
i am not asking for anything, and please do not buy anything out of sympathy.
The €45 birthday code ends tonight, exactly as planned when i sent it.
Two free things i would genuinely like you to use: give a friend a month, and leave a review for an extra site.

hi there,
Three weeks ago i wrote to you about a car. Not really about the car. About what it stood for: driving across Europe with my kids, the freedom to move somewhere for a while when a place calls us, and standing behind an ambitious plan for once instead of talking myself out of it.
i bought it. Nine months of working days and nights, and then it was parked in front of our house.
On Wednesday i turned 45 and we took it to the sea, to a place my partner and i used to go in our twenties, where we danced on the beach and made plans for a life that was completely hypothetical at the time. It was a good few days.
On Friday at 4 in the morning, while we were asleep, a drunk driver hit it where it was parked. The police measured 1.00 mg/l of alcohol in his breath. The damage is more than two thirds of what i paid. His plates are British and mine are Romanian, and the way this works here is that i pay for the repair first and then wait four to six months to maybe be paid back.
Nine months of work, on a flatbed.
i will be honest about the first day. i spiralled. i replayed the two moments where a different decision would have parked that car somewhere else, which is a useless thing to do and i did it anyway. It felt utterly unfair.
Then a few things landed, in this order.
Nobody was hurt. We were fifty metres away and asleep. A man that drunk, at that hour, could have met my family on a road instead of an empty parked car. i have been sitting with that all weekend.
The part that mattered was standing on the pavement, watching it go.
Someone told me: bad things happen to everyone, and it is the response that decides the outcome. The people who end up doing best have usually taken some loss and used it to change themselves for the better. i have read sentences like that a hundred times and ignored them. This weekend it actually went in.
And my daughter, who is 17, had written in my birthday card two days earlier that she hopes i realise how much my determination to build Respira inspires her. That is what he could not touch. He damaged a car. He did not touch the work, or what my kids saw me do to get there.
So the response is straightforward. i will repair it, or replace it. The way i earn that money is by making the product you use better, which is something i would be doing anyway, and now with a very concrete reason. Back to shipping on Monday.
i am telling you this because you were there for the first half of the story, and sending you only the good part felt dishonest.
| THE PRACTICAL PART, AND I WANT TO BE EXACT ABOUT IT |
The birthday code ends tonight. MIHAI45 takes €45 off the first year of any annual plan from Builder 5 upward, including the WooCommerce bundles. It works three ways: starting a new plan, moving a plan you already have from monthly to annual, or adding a second plan next to your current one so the site limits add up. If you want to move an existing plan across, reply with the word annual and i will do it by hand with the code applied, because that particular screen has no field to type it into.
It ends tonight because a birthday week ends, which is exactly what i said when i sent it, and it is not moving because of my weekend. Please do not use it out of sympathy. If Respira saves you hours it is worth it in a normal week, and if it does not, none of this should change your mind.
| TWO THINGS THAT COST YOU NOTHING |
Give a friend a month. If you are building with Respira, there is a free month sitting in your dashboard to give away. Not for you, for a friend who would enjoy editing their site by talking to it. It is the part of this business i like most.
Or say something true about it in public. If Respira has actually saved you hours, write a few honest sentences on G2. Real words from real work are the marketing one person cannot do alone, and it reaches people i will never reach on my own. If you are on a paid plan, there is a card in your dashboard that takes you to G2 and then lets you upload a screenshot of your review. i check it and add an extra site to your plan as thanks, for as long as you stay.
