Begin an explicit snapshot session so a batch of changes can be rolled back together, or, with mode plan, a session in which every write is proposed instead of run.

respira_begin_session

Begin an explicit snapshot session. Every change made after this, until respira_end_session, is grouped under one session_id, so the whole batch can be rolled back together with respira_restore_session. Without an explicit session, changes are auto-grouped by a time window.

With mode: "plan", nothing on the site changes until the plan is applied: every write returns a respira_plan_step with its predicted effect and a step_id instead of running, reads work as usual, and respira_apply_plan runs the steps the person accepted.

expires_in is in seconds: a plan lives for 4 hours from the last begin_session. pending_steps counts steps already waiting in this key's plan, because beginning again keeps them.

What it changes

Nothing on the site. It opens a grouping for the writes that follow. In plan mode it also switches the key's writes to proposals, so from this call until respira_end_session a write adds a step to the plan and changes nothing.

When it fails

  • respira_plan_needs_key: plan mode needs a connection with its own Respira key, and this one has none. A plan is keyed on the credential, and a shared credential would share its plan with every other caller. Connect with an API key or a site token.

Availability

Works on any WordPress site, whichever page builder it uses. mode: "plan" needs plugin 9.1.0 and MCP server 8.4.0. On the site's own MCP endpoint the tool is respira_wordpress_begin_session.

Notes

  • One plan per API key, whichever client is using the key
  • To plan one write without a session, send _respira_plan: true in that write's arguments
  • respira_end_session turns plan mode off and says how many steps never ran
