Respira for WordPress is a plugin that enables AI coding assistants (like Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, and Codex CLI) to safely edit live WordPress sites. It uses a duplicate-first workflow where pages are duplicated before editing, allowing you to review changes before publishing.

Respira uses a duplicate-before-edit workflow. When an AI requests to edit a page, Respira first creates a duplicate, makes changes to the duplicate, and lets you review before publishing. It also includes XSS/SQL injection protection, content validation, and one-click rollback.

Respira works with any AI tool that supports the MCP (Model Context Protocol). This includes Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, Codex CLI, and other MCP-compatible assistants. It also works with GitHub Copilot through its API.

Respira supports 11 page builders: Divi (with intelligence for 200+ modules), Elementor, Gutenberg (WordPress blocks), Oxygen, Bricks, WPBakery (Visual Composer), Beaver Builder, Thrive Architect, Brizy, Visual Composer, and Breakdance. Each builder has a dedicated extraction and injection system.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard protocol that allows AI assistants to interact with external tools. Respira provides an MCP server that AI tools can connect to, giving them the ability to read page content, list pages, edit content, and manage WordPress sites safely.
