To let ChatGPT, Claude, Codex or Cursor edit Elementor pages directly, connect the AI to the site through an MCP server that writes Elementor: Elementor’s own MCP, the Premium Addons AI abilities, the official WordPress MCP Adapter, or the Elementor MCP server in Respira for WordPress. Elementor’s own MCP edits pages built with the new Atomic elements and says classic widget pages come “soon”, while Respira edits classic widget pages and Atomic pages, puts every change on a copy you approve, and keeps 90 days of undo. Inside the editor, Elementor AI and its agent Angie build and write without an outside AI app.
I make Respira for WordPress, one of the options below. Every fact about the others comes from their own page, linked where it appears, read on 15 October 2026.
Six ways to edit Elementor with AI, at a glance

The first question: classic widgets or Atomic elements?
Elementor now has two kinds of page: pages built with classic widgets, which Elementor calls V3, and pages built with Atomic elements, V4, from the newer editor. Several of the options below reach only one kind, so check which kind your client’s pages are before you pick.
Elementor MCP plugin: the options, one by one
1. Elementor’s own MCP
Elementor shipped its MCP to every site in Elementor 4.3.0 on 22 September 2026, with a dedicated page for connecting AI tools. Its MCP page says it supports sites built with Atomic elements and layouts (V4), and “will soon also support Widget (V3) layouts”. It names Claude, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex and Cursor, and says it connects to any MCP-compatible AI tool. “Every generation lands as a draft, and nothing goes live until you review and publish it.”
Setup is in wp-admin under Elementor, Elementor MCP, for site admins only: pick the AI tool, and Elementor creates an application password and puts it in a prompt you paste into that tool. Connecting is free; Pro elements (forms, popups, loops, headers, footers, dynamic content) need a Pro plan, and custom widgets, bulk content actions and connections to WooCommerce, Yoast or ACF need Elementor’s Angie plugin.
Fits: sites built in the Atomic editor, one site at a time.
2. Elementor AI and Angie: AI for Elementor inside the editor
Elementor AI is the AI built into Elementor: design, code and copy, images, on-page writing and site building, inside the drag-and-drop editor. It runs on credits: Elementor One plans include a monthly credit pool, 25,000 credits a month on One. Angie, Elementor’s agent, is a free plugin with a chat that generates Elementor pages, widgets and code snippets, on a free plan with daily credits. Since version 1.1.14 Angie also has its own MCP, so an outside AI client can connect to the site through it.
If you want an AI assistant for Elementor without leaving Elementor, this is it. Angie’s listing says generated code runs in a test mode first, that you approve every change to production, and that it asks before destructive actions. Neither page says whether a generated page lands as a draft or how to undo it.
Fits: one person working in the editor who wants help in place.
3. Premium Addons for Elementor, AI abilities
Premium Addons for Elementor (600,000+ active installs, version 4.11.112, updated on 14 October 2026) now ships 37+ AI abilities, MCP tools that let an AI create pages and templates, add containers, insert Premium Addons widgets and set their options, read global colours and fonts, insert templates and duplicate pages. Inserting other Elementor widgets needs Pro. It is built on the WordPress Abilities API and the official MCP Adapter, needs WordPress 6.9 or newer, and lists Claude (Desktop, Code and claude.ai), ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Cline, Gemini CLI and more, connected with OAuth or an application password. The abilities are in the free and Pro versions. The listing mentions no drafts or undo.
Fits: building new pages from Premium Addons widgets and templates.
4. The WordPress MCP Adapter
The MCP Adapter is the WordPress project’s bridge between the Abilities API and MCP: it exposes every ability a plugin registers as a tool, over HTTP or through WP-CLI. Version 0.7.0 added MCP 2026-07-28 and is the first release on the WordPress.org plugin directory. It writes Elementor only through the abilities Elementor or another plugin registers, and it has no undo or approval layer of its own.
Fits: developers exposing their own abilities, or running Premium Addons’ abilities.
5. Custom GPT Actions
GPT Actions let a custom GPT in ChatGPT call an outside API: you describe the API with a schema, set its authentication, and ChatGPT makes the calls. Pointed at the WordPress REST API, an Action reaches what that API exposes, such as posts, titles and content. Elementor keeps a page’s layout in its own data, so changing widgets needs an endpoint you write and host, and nothing stops a call from changing the live page.
Fits: developers who want a narrow, custom action and are ready to maintain it.
6. Respira for WordPress
The Elementor MCP server in Respira for WordPress reads and writes classic widgets (V3), Pro widgets and Atomic elements (V4), and tags each element so the agent writes the right format. Colours and fonts from Site Settings stay linked on classic widgets, Atomic elements get per-breakpoint and per-state styles, and each tree is validated before it is saved. Every edit lands on a copy of the page that you approve in WordPress, every write is snapshotted with 90 days of undo, and a change that names the page version the agent read is refused, with nothing written, if the page changed in the meantime.
It works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex and anything else that speaks MCP, on one connection for every site you run, and the same tools cover 18 page builders. When you add Elementor’s own MCP, its abilities run through Respira too, with a snapshot of the page first. What it does not do yet: Atomic element types it does not model are refused with a list of the supported ones, some Pro display conditions (date ranges, geolocation) cannot be written, and Theme Builder templates are listed but their structure cannot be edited. Elementor also gives elements new internal IDs when it saves in its own editor.
It costs from €9 a month for one site, with a 7-day free trial. The side by side with Elementor’s own MCP is on the Elementor page.
Fits: agencies editing live client pages, classic or Atomic, who need every change reviewable and reversible.
Elementor MCP by AI app
Elementor MCP with Claude and Claude Code
Elementor’s own MCP names Claude, Claude Desktop and Claude Code: paste the prompt from Elementor, Elementor MCP
into Claude. With Respira, add the site to claude.ai or Claude Desktop as a custom connector by its link and approve
it in the browser. In Claude Code, run one claude mcp add command with your site URL and a Respira key
(the steps are in connect Claude Code to WordPress), or add the site’s
MCP link with claude mcp add --transport http respira and sign in in the browser. Every way in is on
connect Claude to WordPress.
Elementor MCP with Codex
Elementor names Codex on its MCP page. Respira connects Codex with two commands, codex mcp add and
codex mcp login with a browser sign-in, covered on the
Codex integration page. Codex then works on the site the way Claude Code does.
Elementor MCP with ChatGPT
Elementor’s MCP page does not name ChatGPT, and I have not tested ChatGPT against it. Premium Addons lists ChatGPT. With Respira, ChatGPT on the web adds the site as a custom app by its link, in Developer mode, with a sign-in, as the ChatGPT setup page shows step by step. The other route, a custom GPT with Actions, is above.
Which AI assistant for Elementor fits which job
- Help inside the editor, no outside app: Elementor AI and Angie.
- Atomic pages, one site, from Claude, Codex or Cursor: Elementor’s own MCP.
- New pages built from Premium Addons widgets: Premium Addons.
- Classic widget pages, live client sites, or more than one builder: Respira for WordPress.
- A narrow custom action you maintain yourself: a custom GPT with Actions.
These are not exclusive. Elementor’s MCP, Premium Addons’ abilities and Respira can run on the same site, and Respira can call the other two’s abilities with a snapshot first. For every builder, not only Elementor, see the WordPress MCP server overview and twelve WordPress MCP servers compared. If clients review the result, Respira Murmur, client feedback on the page, sends their notes back to the agent; other options are in client feedback tools for WordPress pages.
Questions people ask
How can ChatGPT edit my Elementor pages directly?
Connect ChatGPT to the site through an MCP server that writes Elementor. Premium Addons and Respira for WordPress both list ChatGPT. With Respira you add the site to ChatGPT on the web as a custom app by its link, in Developer mode, and sign in once; every edit then lands on a copy of the page that you approve, with 90 days of undo. Elementor’s own MCP page names Claude, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex and Cursor rather than ChatGPT. A custom GPT with Actions can call an API you build, but the default WordPress REST API does not reach Elementor’s widgets.
Is there an Elementor MCP plugin?
Elementor’s own MCP is part of Elementor itself from version 4.3: an administrator connects it under Elementor, Elementor MCP. Premium Addons for Elementor adds AI abilities through the official WordPress MCP Adapter. Respira for WordPress is a plugin on the site plus an MCP server your AI connects to, and covers classic widget pages as well as Atomic ones.
How do I use the Elementor MCP with Claude or Claude Code?
For Elementor’s own MCP, open Elementor, Elementor MCP in wp-admin, pick Claude, and paste the prompt it gives you into Claude; it creates an application password for you. For Respira, add the site to claude.ai or Claude Desktop as a custom connector by its link and approve it in the browser, or run one claude mcp add command in Claude Code. Both work on Atomic pages; Respira also edits classic widget pages.
Can I use the Elementor MCP with Codex?
Yes. Elementor names Codex on its MCP page, and Respira connects Codex with two commands, codex mcp add and codex mcp login, and a browser sign-in. Either way Codex talks to the site over MCP, and the same limits apply as for any other client: Elementor’s MCP edits Atomic pages, Respira edits classic and Atomic pages on a copy first.
Does Elementor’s own MCP edit classic widget pages?
Not yet. Elementor’s MCP page says it supports sites built with Atomic elements and layouts (V4) and will “soon” support Widget (V3) layouts. Pages built with classic widgets are outside it for now.
Is Elementor’s own MCP free?
Connecting it is free, and pricing follows your Elementor plan: basic sections are free to generate, and Pro elements such as forms, popups, loops, headers and footers need a Pro plan. Custom widgets, bulk content actions and connections to WooCommerce, Yoast or ACF need Elementor’s Angie plugin. Your AI tool is paid separately.
What is the difference between Elementor AI, Angie and the Elementor MCP?
Elementor AI is the AI inside Elementor: writing, images, code and site building in the editor, paid with credits. Angie is Elementor’s agent, a free plugin with a chat that generates Elementor pages, widgets and code snippets. The Elementor MCP connects an outside AI app, such as Claude or Cursor, to your Elementor site.
Can an AI break an Elementor page?
It can write something you did not want, the way a person can. Elementor’s MCP saves what it generates as a draft. With Respira, every edit lands on a copy you approve in WordPress, every write is snapshotted with 90 days of undo, and a change that names the page version the agent read is refused if the page changed since, rather than overwriting it.
How I put this together
I read each option’s own page or listing on 15 October 2026 and linked the source next to each claim. Where a vendor does not say something, the table says “not stated” rather than guessing. Respira’s facts are the ones on its Elementor page. If something here is out of date, write to word@respira.press and I will correct it.
