Check your ChatGPT access first
OpenAI currently supports custom MCP apps on ChatGPT web. Availability depends on your plan, workspace settings, and role.
- Business, Enterprise, and Edu
- Full read and write MCP is available in beta on the web, subject to workspace permissions.
- Plus and Pro
- Custom MCP apps are available on ChatGPT web. Available actions can vary by account and rollout, so review the tools and permissions ChatGPT shows after scanning.
- Free
- OpenAI's current plan table does not list custom MCP availability for Free accounts.
- iPhone, iPad, and Android
- Custom MCP apps cannot be added in the ChatGPT mobile apps. Complete setup and use the app on chatgpt.com.

Connect one WordPress site
- Get the link from the Respira dashboard.
Open MCP setup, choose ChatGPT web, and select the WordPress site you want. Respira checks the site's sign-in address before revealing its link.
- Enable Developer mode on chatgpt.com.
In ChatGPT web, open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode. In a managed workspace, an admin may need to allow this first.
- Create the Respira app.
Return to Apps, choose Create, and paste the site link from Respira. Choose OAuth if ChatGPT asks for an authentication method, then select Scan tools.
- Sign in and approve access.
Sign in to Respira in the browser window, review the requested access level, and choose Approve. When ChatGPT finishes scanning, choose Create to save the app.
- Start a new chat with Respira enabled.
Select the Respira app from the tools menu or mention it in the conversation. Begin with a read-only request so you can confirm the right site is connected.
ChatGPT stores one Respira app connection per WordPress site. Return to the dashboard, select another site, and repeat when you need more than one.
Apps, Create, or Developer mode is missing.
- Use chatgpt.com in a desktop browser, not the mobile app.
- If write tools are absent, continue with read and fetch. OpenAI documents full MCP write support as a Business, Enterprise, and Edu beta.
- In a managed workspace, ask an owner or admin to grant Developer mode access for your role.
OAuth finishes, but ChatGPT says it could not connect.
- Delete the unfinished app in ChatGPT and create it again with the latest link from the Respira dashboard.
- Confirm the WordPress site is online and its
/wp-json/address is not blocked by a firewall. - In WordPress, open Settings → Permalinks, choose Post name, and save once if the sign-in address returns 404.
- Make sure the link belongs to the site you approved. Each site has its own connection.
The tools changed, but ChatGPT still shows the old list.
ChatGPT saves a snapshot of an app's tools when it is created. Refresh or recreate the app after a Respira update; managed workspaces may require an admin to refresh and republish it.
Start with these requests
- using Respira, tell me which WordPress site is connected and which builder it uses
- list the last five pages edited on this site, with their status and URLs
- scan the homepage for accessibility issues and group them by severity
- find every page that still mentions the old company name
- duplicate the pricing page and update the yearly plan copy
- show the latest snapshots and explain what changed in each one
The final two examples need ChatGPT to expose Respira's write tools. Check the scanned tools and permissions first. ChatGPT may ask for confirmation before a write, depending on the tool and workspace policy.
What Respira adds to ChatGPT
- Browser OAuth, not copied WordPress secrets. The site link starts a standard sign-in and approval flow. You can revoke the connection later from Respira.
- 320+ WordPress tools. Read pages, posts, menus, media, ACF, WooCommerce, and builder data through one remote MCP connection.
- Safer writes. Respira applies its duplicate, draft, approval, and snapshot controls before changes reach the live site.
- A clear surface boundary. Custom apps work in regular ChatGPT web chats. OpenAI currently excludes them from Agent mode, while Deep Research is limited to read and fetch.
