Add your company domain to your Respira team once. From then on, anyone who signs in to Respira with a verified address on it joins the team on their own, with no invitation to send and nobody locked out on their first morning.
Respira for WordPress lets an AI assistant like ChatGPT or Claude make changes on a live WordPress site. For an agency, that usually means one licence, many client sites, and a team of people who work on them. Joining by company email is the part that keeps that team in step with who actually works at the agency.
Why this exists
Since Respira 9.1.34, only the licence owner and the people on their team can use Respira on the licence's sites. That rule is right: the agency pays for the licence, so the agency decides who uses it, and a client's own WordPress administrators keep their WordPress access without getting the agency's Respira.
It has a cost, though. Every new developer meant a locked Respira screen on every client site until someone remembered to send an invitation. This week an agency with several hundred client sites found two of its people locked out the same morning, as their sites updated past that version. The fix was an invitation each, and it should not have needed one.
Turning it on
- Open the Team page in your Respira dashboard.
- Under Join by company email, type your company domain, for example
yourcompany.com, and add it. Add a second domain if your team uses two. - That is all. Tell your team they can sign in to Respira with their work address.
Removing a domain stops new people from joining. Everyone who already joined stays on the team until you remove them, and every join, and every domain added or removed, shows in the team trail.
For the person joining
Sign in at respira.press with your work address, by magic link or with Google. You join the team with the Edit permission. Then open Respira in wp-admin on any of the team's sites. On Respira 9.2.19 and newer, a site checks its list again when someone it does not know yet opens a Respira screen, so you are let in within a few minutes. Older versions catch up within six hours.
One thing to check: your WordPress user on the site needs the same email address as your Respira account. That match is how the site knows the WordPress user and the team member are the same person.
What keeps it safe
- Only your own domain. You can add a domain that you, the owner or an administrator of the team has an email address on, and each domain belongs to one team only. Nobody can claim your company's domain for their team.
- No public email providers. gmail.com, outlook.com, icloud.com and the like are refused, because anyone can have an address there.
- Verified addresses only. People join after signing in with a magic link or with Google, both of which prove they own the address.
- Removed means removed. Someone you removed is never added back automatically. Bringing them back takes a fresh invitation.
- Edit, not more. People join with the Edit permission, never as administrators. Change it on the Team page like any other seat.
What it costs
Each person who joins is a normal team seat, with the same rules as an invited person: 30 free days from the day they activate, then €10 for a month in which they use Respira, and nothing in a month they do not. On Founder, seats are included, so a whole company can join at no cost. The Team Accounts docs have the details.
If you look after client sites with a team, it takes one domain on the Team page. If you do not use Respira yet, it is free for 7 days, no card, at respira.press.
Questions
Who can turn on joining by company email?
The team owner or an administrator, on Builder, Studio, Agency or Founder. It lives on the Team page, under Join by company email. Maker and legacy Starter are single-user plans and do not have it.
Can someone add a domain that is not theirs?
No. A domain can only be added when the person adding it, the owner or an administrator of the team has an email address on it, and each domain belongs to one team only. Public email providers such as gmail.com or outlook.com are refused, because anyone can have an address there.
What permission do people get when they join?
Edit. They can read and change the sites the team works on. You can change anyone's permission on the Team page afterwards, the same as for an invited person.
What if I removed someone from the team?
They stay removed. Joining by company email never adds back a person the team removed. To bring them back, invite them again.
Does it cost anything?
Each person who joins is a normal team seat: 30 free days from when they activate, then €10 for a month in which they use Respira, and nothing in a month they do not. On Founder, seats are included, so joining costs nothing.
