Best SEO MCP servers for WordPress in 2026

Ahrefs, Semrush, DataForSEO, SE Ranking and Search Console MCPs bring the data. SEO plugins change SEO fields; Respira fixes the page itself, with undo.

The best SEO MCP servers in 2026 split into two kinds, and WordPress SEO work through an AI usually needs one of each. Data servers (Ahrefs, Semrush, DataForSEO, SE Ranking and the community Search Console servers) give Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor keywords, backlinks, rankings and audits, and cannot change a WordPress site. Site servers (the abilities Rank Math, Yoast, AIOSEO and SEOPress now ship, and WordPress editing servers such as Respira for WordPress) change the site: SEO fields, settings and, with Respira, the page content itself in its page builder.

I make Respira, one of the servers below. It is a WordPress editing server with SEO checks, not a keyword-research tool. Every fact about the others comes from their own documentation, product page or repository, linked where it appears, read on 15 October 2026.

Data servers

1. Ahrefs MCP

Ahrefs’ MCP server is hosted: you add its address in your AI client and approve a sign-in, which creates an API key for it. Its tools cover Site Explorer (backlinks, referring domains, organic keywords, top pages), Keywords Explorer, SERP overviews, Rank Tracker, Site Audit, Brand Radar for AI visibility, Web Analytics, and Search Console data for your sites. It needs a paid plan from Lite, and every call uses the plan’s monthly API units. Ahrefs documents setup for Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT and several other clients. The older local server on GitHub is archived; use the hosted one.

2. Semrush MCP

Semrush’s MCP server is hosted too, with a sign-in or an API key. It reaches the SEO API (keywords, domains, backlinks), the Trends API for traffic if you have that subscription, and the read-only parts of Projects, which include Position Tracking and Site Audit; it cannot create or change projects. Semrush One Starter or Pro+, and SEO Classic Pro or Guru, include API units; SEO Classic Business and Semrush One Advanced need an added API units package. Semrush documents Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and others.

3. DataForSEO MCP

DataForSEO’s server runs hosted with a sign-in or on your computer with your API login. Its current version is small on purpose: a few tools to search DataForSEO’s documentation and one generic request tool that reaches the APIs behind it: SERPs, AI responses, keyword data, on-page, DataForSEO Labs, backlinks and domain analytics. Pricing is pay as you go with a $50 minimum top-up, and new accounts get a small trial credit.

4. SE Ranking MCP

SE Ranking’s hosted server lists 180+ SEO and AI-visibility tools (keywords, backlinks, domains, audits) with guides for Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and others. It is included in every subscription and runs on API credits, or on a pay-as-you-go API plan, and a free trial comes with 100K credits.

5. Google Search Console servers (community)

I found no official Search Console server from Google: Google’s own MCP list includes Analytics but not Search Console. One community server is mcp-gsc, with about 1,900 GitHub stars, free and updated in September 2026: search analytics, period comparisons, URL inspection, indexing checks and sitemaps, with deleting a sitemap behind a setting. mcp-server-gsc and search-console-mcp (which adds Bing, GA4 and IndexNow) are alternatives. They can write to Search Console and Bing (sitemaps, properties, indexing requests), never to WordPress.

6. Google Analytics MCP

Google’s Analytics MCP server is official, free and runs on your computer with a read-only scope: account and property details, reports, funnels and realtime data. Google labels it experimental.

Other data servers

  • Similarweb: hosted, traffic and engagement data, needs a subscription with API access.
  • Keywords Everywhere: hosted, search volume, keyword ideas, traffic and backlinks, on a plan with credits.
  • Screaming Frog SEO Spider: an MCP server built into the paid licence of version 24, running on your computer, for crawl data and reports.
  • Serpstat: an official server, hosted with a sign-in (all 63 tools) or local with an API token.
  • Moz: a hosted MCP server in beta, with a sign-in or an API key, for accounts with a Moz Data API subscription (account owners only for now).
  • PageSpeed and Lighthouse: no official Google PageSpeed server. Google’s Chrome DevTools MCP runs Lighthouse audits for accessibility, SEO and best practices, records performance traces and adds real-user field data from CrUX.

Site servers: the ones that change WordPress

Since WordPress 6.9, plugins can register abilities, and the MCP Adapter turns them into MCP tools. The four big SEO plugins now ship abilities, so an AI can change their SEO fields and settings over MCP.

7. Rank Math

Rank Math’s MCP launched with 27 abilities, and its tool list has since added more, such as 404 logs and sitemap status. They read a post’s SEO meta, schema, links and link report, redirections, robots.txt, llms.txt, SEO scores, AI visibility and your top Search Console keywords, and write site-wide settings, such as fixing site SEO (which fills in missing focus keywords in bulk), homepage SEO, sitemap settings and module status. It connects with a sign-in that creates an Application Password, and names Claude Desktop, ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot. Some data needs PRO or Content AI.

8. Yoast SEO

Yoast SEO’s abilities are three read-only score abilities, plus one that reads and one that updates a post’s SEO data; since Yoast SEO 28.7 the update covers the SEO title and meta description, and the focus keyphrase stays read only. The 29 September 2026 release made the canonical, robots flags, cornerstone and schema type writable, and says they become MCP tools once the MCP Adapter is connected. It needs WordPress 6.9 or newer.

9. AIOSEO

AIOSEO has a built-in MCP server from version 4.9.8, on WordPress 6.9 and the MCP Adapter, which it installs in one click. The free version has 13 abilities, and Pro adds taxonomy SEO, redirects and Search Statistics. It ships ready-made configs for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Cursor and VS Code.

10. SEOPress

SEOPress has had a built-in MCP server since version 10.3, with a sign-in, off until switched on: 14 tools in the free version and 13 more in PRO, which adds redirects, structured data and AI generation. SEOPress Insights adds rankings, competitors and backlinks.

11. Respira for WordPress

Respira for WordPress is a WordPress editing MCP server: your AI reads pages and posts in 19 page builders and changes them in 18 of them (SeedProd is read only), in each builder’s own format. An edit to a published page lands on a draft copy you approve, and every page and post write takes a snapshot first. Its SEO side is a set of checks an AI can run before it edits, as the tool catalogue describes them:

  • respira_analyze_seo: meta tags, heading structure, image alt text, internal linking, content quality and schema markup.
  • respira_check_seo_issues: common SEO issues with quick recommendations.
  • respira_analyze_aeo: how well content answers AI search engines: structured data, clarity, semantic HTML, entities, depth and FAQ opportunities.
  • respira_check_structured_data: every JSON-LD block on the published page, and which plugin printed it (Rank Math, Yoast, AIOSEO, SEOPress and others).
  • respira_analyze_rankmath: the Rank Math score with ready-to-apply title, description and focus keyword.
  • respira_get_core_web_vitals and respira_run_pagespeed_audit: PageSpeed Insights lab and field data for a public page.
  • respira_analyze_readability and respira_analyze_images: readability, missing alt text, large or unoptimised images.

The SEO and AEO Amplifier skill strings these together: audit, snapshot, fix titles, descriptions, headings and schema on duplicates, then a report. What Respira does not have is search data. It does not know your keyword volumes, backlinks or rankings; pair it with a data server above, in the same AI conversation, and let the data server find the pages and Respira fix them. Respira can also call the SEO plugin abilities you have switched on in Respira, and takes a snapshot of the post first when the call looks like a write.

It costs from €9 a month or €71 a year for one site, with a 7-day free trial. The SEO audit workflow · Pricing.

How to choose, and how to combine them

  • You want to know what to write and which pages are slipping: a data server. Use the one your team already pays for; DataForSEO if you want to pay per call.
  • You only need your own clicks and positions: a free Search Console server.
  • You want an AI to fill in SEO titles and settings: your SEO plugin’s abilities, through the MCP Adapter.
  • You want the AI to fix the page itself (a missing H1 inside an Elementor section, alt text in a Divi gallery, an FAQ block for an answer engine) on a live client site: Respira, which writes the change in the page’s own builder on a copy you approve.

A working setup for an agency is two servers in one conversation: “Find the pages that lost clicks this month in Search Console, then check each one with respira_analyze_seo and fix the title and H1 on a duplicate.” For the wider list of WordPress servers, see the best WordPress MCP servers.

Questions people ask

What is an SEO MCP server?

An SEO MCP server gives an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor a set of SEO tools it can call: keyword volumes, backlinks, rankings, Search Console data, a site audit, or the SEO fields of a page. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard those assistants use to call outside tools. Some servers only read data; a few can change a WordPress site.

What are the best SEO MCP servers?

For data, the official servers from Ahrefs, Semrush, SE Ranking and DataForSEO, and a community Search Console server such as mcp-gsc. For changing a WordPress site, the abilities your SEO plugin ships (Rank Math, Yoast, AIOSEO, SEOPress) or a WordPress editing server such as Respira for WordPress. Most SEO work through an AI needs one of each: a data server to find what to fix, and a site server to fix it.

Can an SEO MCP server edit my WordPress site?

The data servers cannot: Ahrefs, Semrush, DataForSEO, SE Ranking and Search Console servers read data and write nothing to WordPress. The SEO plugins’ own abilities can change SEO fields and settings, and Respira can change page content in the site’s page builder as well as SEO fields, on a draft copy with a snapshot first.

Is there a Google Search Console MCP server?

Not an official one from Google that I could find on 15 October 2026; Google’s own MCP list includes Google Analytics but not Search Console. Community servers fill the gap, such as mcp-gsc, and Ahrefs’ MCP includes Search Console data for connected sites.

Is there a free SEO MCP server?

Yes. The community Search Console servers and Google’s Analytics server are free, and the free versions of Rank Math, Yoast, AIOSEO and SEOPress ship abilities. DataForSEO is pay as you go with a small trial credit, and SE Ranking has a free trial. Ahrefs, Semrush, SE Ranking after its trial, Similarweb and Moz need a paid plan with API access.

Does Respira do keyword research?

No. Respira is a WordPress editing MCP server with SEO checks: it analyses pages for SEO, answer engines, readability, structured data and speed, and makes the fixes in the page’s own builder. Keyword volumes, backlinks and rankings come from a data server such as Ahrefs, Semrush or DataForSEO, which works next to Respira in the same AI conversation.

How I put this together

I read each server’s own documentation, product page or repository on 15 October 2026 and linked the source next to each claim. Plans and prices are what each vendor publishes. Respira’s tools are described the way its own tool catalogue describes them, and nothing more. If something here is out of date, write to word@respira.press and I will correct it.
